FHI360 leads the consortium working on the Urban Health Initiative in Uttar Pradesh (UP) and provides overall management, leadership and strategic direction to the project, including monitoring and improving quality. FHI has provided global technical leadership in family planning, reproductive and maternal health, HIV/AIDS, and other areas of family health for more than 30 years. Since 1995, FHI has worked in India with more than 140 government and private partners to improve organizational, program management, and technical capacities, including the integration of family planning into HIV and MNCH programs.

CARE India’s dynamic multi sector relief and development programme addresses the interests of millions of disadvantaged women and girls. We are a part of a global network which ensures dignity for all. For 60 years, we have provided improved access to health, education and sustainable livelihoods. We have implemented large scale, qualitative projects that positively impact the most vulnerable communities and influence policy change. Today, we are present in 15 states and reach over 16 million people
Under UHI, CARE will develop, implement and evaluate large-scale community outreach and mobilization efforts to address social and information barriers to the acceptance and continued use of family planning services. CARE India's work will focus on building capacities and strengthening the sustainability of local government and non-government organizations, frontline workers, and self-help groups; to improve the quality of information, counseling, and services. Hindustan Latex Family Planning Promotion Trust (HLFPPT), a nonprofit organization promoted by Hindustan Latex Limited, has supported RCH and HIV prevention and care programs in partnership with international development agencies, state governments, and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare across 10 states in India. In UP, in addition to contraceptive social marketing and Community Care Centers, HLFPPT pioneered a social franchising model, the Merry Gold Health Network, to deliver quality maternal neonatal and child health services at affordable prices. Under UHI, HLFPPT will increase the availability, acceptance, and use of socially marketed condoms and 1 brand of oral contraceptive pills.

Under UHI, Johns Hopkins University Center for Communication Programs JHUCCP will document the overall UHI communication strategy and design and implement the mass media strategy focused especially on TV and radio, focused on increasing contraceptive acceptance. Strategy implementation will contribute to increase approval and acceptance of family planning services, and catalyze new social norms for family planning. JHUCCP currently has 95 projects in over 30 countries, with a 20 year history of providing global technical leadership in strategic behavior change communication, programming, research, and capacity building, knowledge management, and family planning/reproductive health and HIV/AIDS communication.
