Department of Medical Health & Family Welfare

 

UHI works closely with Department of Medical Health & Family Welfare to ensure that strategies and activities are aligned and supportive of GoUP and GOI programs, strategies, and schemes

Mission: The Department of Medical Health and Family Welfare is committed to provide high quality, affordable and accessible, preventive, curative, promotive and comprehensive health care services to the people of the state with special focus to the disadvantaged population.
Role in field of Urban Health: Focusing on the objective of providing health services; the department provides First level Health Services in Urban areas through District Male and Female or Combined Hospitals to cater requirements of urban health like Immunization of Pregnant Women & distribution of iron & folic acid tablets, Safe delivery, Post delivery care of mother & child, immunization of children, Dissemination of FP information etc.
Also, an urban health cell has been constituted to effectively coordinate the urban health programme with an Senior Officer in the Directorate of Family Welfare been designated as its nodal officer for coordinating with municipal corporations, nagar panchayats, and other departments/agencies to ensure the availability of supplies of contraceptives and reproductive health products like DDKs, ORS and IFA, and provision of training to municipal providers.

 

National Rural Health Mission (NRHM)

UHI works closely with National Rural Health Mission to ensure that strategies and activities are aligned and supportive of GoUP and GOI programs, strategies, and schemes

Mission: To improve health status and quality of life of rural population with unequivocal and explicit emphasis on sustainable development measures to achieve basic objectives like reducing maternal & infant mortality rate, population stabilization, prevention & control of communicable and non-communicable diseases and upgrade AYUSH for promotion of health Life style.

Role in field of Urban Health: The initiative at the urban level aims to address health concerns of the urban poor by rationalizing and strengthening of the existing capacity of health delivery for improving the health status of the urban poor. It intends to provide services for issues like MCH, Family Planning, Adolescent Health, RI etc. These services are provides through the Family Welfare and Aganwaddi Centres running within the targeted urban setting so as to cater to large number of audience from the community.

 

SIFPSA

UHI works closely with SIFPSA to ensure that strategies and activities are aligned and supportive of GoUP and GOI programs, strategies, and schemes

Mission: SIFPSA seeks to facilitate the goal of health for all by improving the quality, demand, access and delivery of family planning and MCH services and also improving related quality of life parameters including the status of women through innovative means and partnerships with government and other agencies.

Role in field of Urban Health: The department through its various projects through public and private sectors and through divisional PMUs channel to improve the services in the field of FP and MCH in the urban settings.

 

State Urban Development Agency (SUDA)

UHI works closely with State Urban Development Agency to ensure that strategies and activities are aligned and supportive of GoUP and GOI programs, strategies, and schemes

Mission: SUDA's mission is to foster a healthy natural environment by providing information about ways in which cities can become more efficient in land, material, water and energy resources, and highly supportive of sustainable transportation.
Role in field of Urban Health: As a Nodal Agency for Urban Poverty Alleviation Programme of Government of India, SUDA aims to create a congenial atmosphere so as to provide a qualitative improvement in the quality of life of Urban Poor.
The activities of the department are executed under the guidance and leadership of Director assisted in his functions by team of Additional Director, Assistant Director, Finance Controller, Chief Engineer, and Executive Engineer along with a set of staff functionaries from different fields.

ICDS

UHI works closely with ICDS to ensure that strategies and activities are aligned and supportive of GoUP and GOI programs, strategies, and schemes

Mission: To improve the nutritional health and educational status of children up to six years of age, pregnant women and lactating mothers

Role in field of Urban Health: The department aims to vaccinate pregnant women with T.T.injections and children below six years with D.P.T. and B.C.G injection. It also aims to reduce the death rate, malnutrition, unhealthy status and dropouts from school.

Municipal Corporation

UHI works closely with Municipal Corporation to ensure that strategies and activities are aligned and supportive of GoUP and GOI programs, strategies, and schemes

Mission: The department of Municipal Corporation ensures sufficient water supply to all and seek to proper up keeping of drainage and sewerage system.

Role in field of Urban Health: Beside the obligatory services of ensuring sufficient water supply and proper drainage and sewerage system, in the urban settings the department also keeps a track of the population and issues birth and death certificates as well.
