ExpandNet is a global network of representatives from international organizations, non-governmental organizations, academic and research institutions, ministries of health and specific projects who seek to advance the science and practice of scaling up. Begun in 2003, the founding members include public health professionals who have been active participants in scaling-up initiatives including those implementing the WHO-sponsored Strategic Approach to Strengthening Reproductive Health Policies and Programs in countries in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, and Latin America. Members also include individuals from technical assistance and donor agencies and people with expertise and interest in issues related to scaling up.ExpandNet provided expertise and support to define the strategy for policy, advocacy and scale up in 2010.

Under UHI, Futures Group International will facilitate the design and implementation of public-private partnership models; ensure involvement of the private sector in service delivery; and facilitate policy development and advocacy for existing and new family planning technologies.Futures Group International will provide the technical support to implement a voucher system, increase access to family planning services and supplies for the urban poor.

John Snow, Inc. (JSI) is a health research and consulting firm dedicated to improving the health of individuals and communities throughout the world. JSI builds local capacity to address critical health problems, collaborating with local partners to assist countries, governments, communities, families, and individuals to develop their skills and identify solutions that meet their public health needs. In 2010 JSI provided technical assistance to UHI to assess the private and public sector contraceptive supply and security situation, and provide specific ideas or recommendations for addressing supply side issues.

Foundation for Research in Health Systems (FRHS) undertakes action research in an effort to understand ways and means of improving quality, effectiveness and access to health services and supplies facilitating efficient use of available resources. Further, it demonstrates use of innovative approaches to improve public health practice and management of public health services. FRHS is leading UHI in the use of mobile technology for monitoring program performance, client satisfaction, and the provisioning and receipt of family planning services. Scope of Work

The Institute for Reproductive Health, Georgetown University, is the worldwide expert in expanding access to LAM and in the promotion of optimal breastfeeding. IRH provides technical assistance to help private and public-sector organizations promote LAM and breast feeding practice in their programs within a context of informed choice. IRH is also pioneering ways to provide these methods directly to consumers through media channels and innovative technologies. UHI identified IRH as the best partner for this component, given their very specific and unique expertise in the promotion and support of strategies for breastfeeding and LAM.
